About the Southeastern Disability Archive

"Know whence you came. If you know whence you came, there is really no limit to where you can go" - James Baldwin

The Southeastern Disability Archive is an online museum run by Disabled people from or living in the South. We collect interviews, photos, and other materials related to the history and culture of disability from people and organizations in the south. Our goal is to uplift the voices of disabled southerners, preserve our stories and accomplishments for future generations, and to educate our communities about the rich history and culture of the disability community.

We acknowledge and celebrate that the disabled experience is inherently intersectional and strive to highlight the experiences Black, Brown, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and other multi-marginalized southerners with disabilities.
